*sigh* yes, I know, I'm a horrible knit blogger.
I have a post partially written on my computer, all about some of the things I've learned about me and knitting (and some of them aren't pretty).
Of course, I got side tracked.
These last few months that I have been MIA I have had a lot of crap to deal with in my life. Things like, my mother selling our house, and giving me very little notice that I was going to be relocating to residence/dorms for the next school year. Unfortunately, school doesn't start till September, so I was mostly out of house and home between July and September. I'm currently staying with BF the Wonderful who is tolerating my taking over a large portion of his apartment quite well.
Believe me, if he can handle this summer with me, he just might be The One...
Anyway, I've been trapped with work for most of the summer.... I've been counting down the days until I go back to school, nothing like a physically intesive job to make you appreciate College, where you can sit down and have climate control.
Speaking of which, this summer has been seriously hot, unusually hot for my area of Canada. We get heat yes, but not normally in the 50's (we're in Celcius).
I guess I shouldn't complain too much though, as the Yarn Harlot says, our area only gets 58 days of summer.
Anyway, I have to do some serious clean up on this blog, I just don't really have time right now. Again, I'm hoping I can motivate myself to post more in here, it's just difficult when I come home from work and barely manage to eat dinner before crashing.
These 12 hour days of work have got to go.
I think that's it for my complaining for now.
I apologize again for my major absence, I hope to get back to showing you my pretty knitting once again. Yes, I have still been knitting, that's what coffee and lunch breaks are for.

I got my first gift from my booty pal! And believe me, it's spiffy.
I don't have pics, because again, I don't have my cam with me, but I figured I would say thank you.
Also, I figured I would answer a question my booty pal asked me.
The animes that I'm most into are cutesy ones, like Chobits, Angelic Layer (i'm a big Clamp fan) I only recently got into Tsubasa the anime but I'm obsessed with the manga as well as with XXXHolic.
I've been a sailor moon fan since I was a little kid... um.. I'm pretty open as far as animes go... I swing back and forth as to what's my favourite... I was really into Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Serial Experiments Lain... but would have something light like DNA2 to take away from the heaviness of it.
I'm pretty eclectic with my anime, so long as it isn't really graphic violence (like people being ripped in two) or hentai then I'm pretty well game to watch it.

Yes! The universe did shake. I actually got pictures of my FO's in a decent amount of time.
Granted, these were taken inside, so they look like crud, but yeah, they're still pics.
So, shall we start off the parade of pretties?
Project: Hat and Scarf set for Brother's Girlfriend
Pattern: Generic 2x2 rib hat with garter stitch scarf
Yarn: Lana 100% Acrylic with Paton's Dynasty for accents
This was a quick and easy project, of course, it took me forever to actually finish it...
I hope the intended reciever likes it.
Project: Christmas Scarf for Mom
Pattern: Manos Cable Scarf by Nipper
Yarh: Unknown hand dyed from Erin
This is the unfinished scarf from Christmas that just needed to be blocked. You can't really see the cable in this light, but it's there, and mom likes it.
And now for two almost identical pictures.
Project: Mark Sweater based off of RENT
Pattern: Marc from Knitty, altered by me
Yarn: Red Heart Acrylic
Can you spot the difference? The one on the left is preblocking, the one on the right is postblocking. The main difference is the sleeves, in the pic on the left you can pretty well see my wrists. In the pic on the right, they are covered up. I love blocking.
So those are my pics for now. We'll see what I have in the future. I'm loving getting things done tho!
Till next time.

Whoot! So I'm updating again... I'm doing pretty good on this updating resolution thing don't you think? I'm not as frequent as The Harlot or Alison, but I'm getting there.
Speaking of The Harlot, (who I, for whatever reason, keep spelling as Harlog >.<), a new book is out next week and it looks oh so wonderful. The book, seen here in it's wonderful apparently old cover glory, apparently has all of The Yarn Harlot's humour, but with tips and tricks included this time around.
And I can't wait!
In other news, I have a few lovely little things to show off, but seeing as I'm at school (because even though the teachers are on strike, I still have homework and assignments to keep up on), I don't have my camera, the 'things', or the pictures of the 'things' to show you.
I hope (and hope being the relative term considering it's me) that I will have pictures for you by the weekend at least... in my perfect little world I'd have them tonight... but then again, this is me.
I have a scarf that I gave my mother for Christmas (yes I know it's way late, but I did give it to her already), and I finally got around to blocking it. Then there's a beautiful hat and scarf set for my Brother's Girlfriend.
I also have a preview of one of the things going into my Booty Swap buddy's package, and it's oh so cool! I can't wait to finish it up! I might just go ahead and make one for me too.
(Again, in my ideal world, I'd make one for each of the Booty Swappers because it just is that cool... but lack of time, money, and mailing addresses prevails)
And now that I've sufficiently distracted myself from homework assignments that teachers won't mark for who knows how long, I will end this and go back to the torture that is school work.
It wouldn't be so bad if I could get the marks back like normal...

Yay! Yes I am back to knitting, slowly of course, but I'm getting there.
I'd like to thank Robyn for her support, I hope your wrist gets better soon too.
I started my second stashbuster spiral sock and I finished the toe. My Olympic Knitting is slowly coming along too, but my wrist apparently doesn't like knitting cables too much yet.
My blog might have a new name taken from the sexy knitters club because I won the first prize given out for their knitalongs. I made the Picovoli along with all the SKC and my name got drawn from the pot. I'll soon have an SKC tshirt to add to my collection. YAY!
Thanks Myriam for the congrats, believe me it was a total surprise, I completely forgot there was a draw for that.
Anyway, when I was congratulated on the club, they apparently didn't realize the name of my blog was Odds and Sods and they dubbed it Saffinity.... which I've taken a shine to, so I might change the name slightly.
Also, I've recently gotten into a piratey mood. I started playing a game called Puzzle Pirates (it's free online and is really REALLY addicting) and I've also joined the:
Yes that's right, and I'd like to say hi to my buddy who hopefully will come and check out my blog. Feel free to put a comment here, or to drop me an email. Ask me anything, I'll try to answer as best I can.
That's it for now, I'll try and get pics of my second sock tomorrow.
Oh, and in true Saff fashion, my wrist is just starting to heal, and I badly sprained my ankle in dance last thursday. Go fig... Seeing the doctor today, so hopefully it's nothing horrible.

Yup, that's what you think it is.
I mentioned recently that I thought that I might be coming down with carpal tunnel or something like that. Reason being, I spend a lot of time on my computer, my course that I'm taking at school uses computers all the time, and I knit my fingers off.... plus it was aching and my fingers were tingling and having all the signs of carpal tunnel that my Mom told me she had.
However, yesterday, the pain became unbearable, then ended up going up my arm into my elbow and shoulder with a pinch in my neck.
So I spent 4 hours in the Urgent Care Clinic.
Ends up, that it's not Carpal tunnel *phew* at least the doctor didn't think so, he said that the tingling was in the wrong fingers for that but that I should keep my doctor's appointment on the 6th to double check.
So what happened?
Well, apparently I have a strain in my wrist... hence why I now have to wear the brace 24 hours a day.
How did I get this strain?
See that lovely pile of fabric in the background? Yeah, well there's not much room on the table that I sew on, so I cut the pattern pieces out on the floor. In the process of crawling around cutting them out, I strained my wrist.
I've been laughed at quite a bit today because of it.
Needless to say, I have to pull out of the Knitting Olympics... but I'll sit on the sidelines and cheer on everyone else!
Oh and thanks for the comments on the socks! I love them too... hopefully I'll have more up soon after I can take this brace off cuz I just bought 10 balls of Paton's Kroy and my Servus (my friend Chris) has rather cold feet that need to be covered in wool.
Till next time

Owie.... I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to finish Blaze in time for the Olympic Deadline *sniff*... I'm apparently beginning to develop Carpal Tunnel and it F&*(ing hurts!
I'm slowly working on it though, hoping to get it closer to finish and with the delusion that if I work on it a bit at a time I may just get far enough to get an honourable mention. (I mean, I am in pain here!)
so, with my extreme lack of knitting pictures, I figured I would give a long awaited costume update. Unfortunately this update doesn't have many pics due to the fact that I don't have many good pics of my costumes.
So to start off, here is a design I made in class one day when we really weren't doing anything.
I'm not sure which colour set I want to go with, so I might make both, but who knows really. She has a set of wings to go along with this, but I don't have that added to the pic here.
Then there is the insanity that involves this picture:

It's not the best pic of me or the costume, but it's the only one I have at the moment. Yes, I'm out in the snow, one of the few good snowy days we've had up here in Canada this year. Reason for this pic is the fact that the girl I'm costumed as uses ice to battle, it seemed to suit.
Yes I was cold, but I wasn't stupid, I had a lovely warm housecoat to put on inbetween shots.
So that's it for now, I'm almost finished my newest costume and I have the fabric for a bunch more. With next week being my reading week, and me taking a few days off of work, I'll hopefully get time for more pics as well as shots of my new costume.

Knitting Olympics halfway point
Ok, so we're about halfway through the knitting olympics and here's where I am:
My camera sucks but yeah, I'm at about 9 inches of the body of Blaze, I'm really liking the look of it, but I'm not sure if I'm going to actually get a gold because I've got a week of midterms coming up.
Also, last week my school made t-shirts for healthy relationships for our clothesline project. This is what I did:
The front says "Teddy Bears are the second thing every child should have" the back reads "Give every child a healthy relationship".
I had a lot of fun and a lot of people gave me compliments on my teddy bear drawing.
I have some other costume stuff to show but for now I'll leave this at this.

Getting ready for the Olympics
Well now, I'll be the first to admit that I've been terribly lax lately with my blogging. However, as penence I have some finished objects for you.
First up is my new, beautiful Picovoli, this being my first Sexy Knitters Club contribution.
This was a very fun, quick, and lovely knit. I used Hawai yarn, which happns to be 60% nylon and 40% tricot (whatever that is, I think it's in a different language), so I did it a size smaller than what I would normally fit, due to the elasticity of the yarn.
Next is the first sock in my pair of February Stashbuster spirals. I quite enjoy this yarn (don't remember the name), which is a new one I'm trying, and the pattern is great fun.
However, I had quite a bit of difficulty with the heel. It took me three tries to understand how the turning worked. I'm not sure if I like this heel, but it's good to learn new techniques. This sock is a bit loose around and a touch long in the foot, so when I make another pair, I'l probably make it a size smaller.
So this sock is waiting for it's mate, and I think it will be soon in the making. I'm liking toe up sockes, mainly for the lack of Kitchener stitch, which I have yet to master. Unfortunately for the sock, it's mate won't be started in the next week week because of this:
This is my Olympic Knitting Swatch. Tomorrow, at 2:00pm, I will be starting my Blaze sweater, and knitting away to show my knitting strength and speed.
At the same time I will be cheering on Lene at The Seated View as she knits her one stitch a day during this wonderful week.
I need to also go out and get 2 sets of 3.75 mm DPN's for the sleeves of Blaze.
Other than that, I have done a couple of costume photo shoots and hope to have a couple of pics for you of that.
I have to admit, it's difficult to juggle knitting, sewing my costumes, and my school and home life. We'll see if I can manage not to drop any balls.
Till next time

Ok so this is a quick entry to merely show off my january socks.
The first sock was actually made last year around this time, but the second sock was finished the second week of January.
Tis late, i'm tired so that's all you're getting.
Here's the pretty pics, these socks made out of Regia, and I'm really proud of matching the stripes.
That is all
