I can't believe it! I got a Socks that Rock Sock Club membership! I was on the waiting list and managed to get to be a part of it.

I can't wait! I'm still a STR Virgin and I'm totally looking forward to a year of beautiful socks!

I just had to dance excitedly around my blog for a minute about this.

I know I can't ~really~ afford this, but you know what?! I don't really care right now, I'm in the STR Sock Club!!!!

And besides, it's going to go over an entire year, and it's totally worth it.

Plus, sock yarn doesn't count when it comes to Knit from your stash... just ask Wendy at... (more)

In honour of the second annual (silent) poetry reading - found here I present you my poem, or rather Monologue. This comes from William Shakespeare's The Tempest and is one of my favourite monologues of all time. It is spoken by Ariel, and is one that I have committed to memory for recitation when I try out for RenFaires (none of which I've been accepted to, stupid improv) Anyway, enjoy: The Tempest: Act III, Scene 3 You are three men of sin, whom Destiny,
That hath to instrument this lower world
And what is in't, the never-surfeited sea
Hath caused to belch up you; and on this... (more)

Whee! Ok so yesterday I had a little photoshoot with my knitting and sewing projects and now I have a lot of photos for you that I can put over a bunch of posts! (yes I will drag it out as long as possible so that I actually have things to post about...) Over the month of January, I'm trying to finish a lot of my UFO's prior to the start of Project Spectrum. This way I won't feel so bad for casting on new projects. Therefore, this will be the post of the (almost) FO's because I actually have a bunch of them already. First on the list we have a baby sweater for my Pseudo-nephew... (more)

Sorry!! I know I promised pictures, but I've caught a cold and it's kicking my butt.

I'll see about getting some good quality pics with my new camera this weekend and showing them on here.

For now, I'll let you look at an adorable kid pic..

This wee one lives in Northern Ireland, and she's wearing a Hello Kitty sweater that I knit a couple of years ago. It was sent over last Christmas, but didn't fit. I recently got this pic in my email. Apparently, wee one loves the sweater so much that her parents have to wait until she's sleeping to get it off of her so it can be washed.

She says... (more)

So, after a very eventful year (one in which I actually posted for a while) I ended up completely and totally ignoring this blog. This was something I felt horrible about, however, due to the fact that this semester totally and completely kicked my butt, I think I have a bit of an excuse.

As it stands, I managed to survive the semester with 3 A's, 2 B's, and 2 C's.... 4 more months and I'm on my way to becoming a career woman.

For a while anyway.

I am going to forwarn everyone that this post is going to be horribly boring because I don't have any pictures. However, I will have pics soon,... (more)

Less Gloomy, and a self portrait

I have been knitting, I promise I have, I just haven't been able to take pictures of it lately.

I'm currently speeding through a 14 week course in 2 weeks, and have 2 very big reports that I have to do up. After October 4, however, I'll have a bit more time (hopefully).

So, until then, here is this weeks Saturday Sky (well... it's Sunday so mine might become Sunday skies, merely because I work pretty well all Saturday.)

A little less gloomy but not by much

You gotta love September, this is how my area of the world looks most days, we get a bit of sunshine, but there's always the cloud... (more)

This is my sky outside my doorm room for my Saturday Sky.

So, we've had quite the wet week this last week. Not that I'm complaining, I actually quite like the rain. It also gave me time to do little bits on my knitting. Not enough to actually have any good pictures of progress mind you, but some.

I actually have a picture of my current room to show, because I'm amused by it.

One side of my room.

So, these are my shelves in my room (I actually have a wonderfully sized room, in this picture I'm standing at the end of my bed (to my left) and i've got enough room to sit beside my bed on the... (more)

Well, after a rather difficult double move (my BF to his new place, me to res) I'm finally, mostly, settled. Hopefully now I can get back into knitting so I'll have something to put on here.
I really am trying to get onto a schedule of sorts. Not just with this, but with my life. I'm almost thinking that I'll do what some other knit bloggers are doing and actually put in tidbits of my life on here. Don't worry, I'll still show my pretty knitting, which I know is what you people all come to see. But I figure that if I don't just restrict it to knitting, then I might actually update a bit...
There were many things that I planned to show you yesterday.

Pretty things, like my newly finished set of Stashbuster Spirals

Started sometime in February, finished yesterday, made in Fortissima (I believe) and very pretty! (I'm very curious though, why my ribbing always seems to be looser than my stocking stitch.)

I was then going to tell you, that while I really liked making these, the are too big (hence the bagging at the ankles), and that I really hate the figure 8 cast on (even though it saved me from having to to Kitchener stitch)

I was going to mention that even though I liked... (more)

Boyfriend sweater curse variation

So... I've heard of the boyfriend sweater curse, I've read about it, been warned about it, and heard drastic stories about it.

What do I do with this knowledge? I get a boyfriend, and decide to make him a sweater.

Now, there's a little explanation to go along with it.

First, I did not dive into a boyfriend sweater with a guy that I've just met, or have gone on a few dates with, or that I've been going steady with for 6 months...

This happens to be a guy who's been my best friend for the last 4 years and has gotten me through some incredibly rough spots. This is a guy who I've spent the... (more)
